The key to a successful association, say observers, is the compatibility of celebrity and product. Take the upcoming Tina Turner campaign for Hanes.
“It’s all about her legs. In a national survey, she came up as the number-one pair of legs people aspire to,” says Peter Arnell, chairman of the Arnell Group, which created the Hanes campaign.
“Fashion advertising lends itself naturally to great promotion in a stylized way for these celebrities. It’s a terrific association for them,” says Arnell. Turner will appear in TV, print and outdoor ads shot by Lindbergh.
